Hotel Claude Marbella

The Hotel Claude Marbella opened its doors in the summer of 2007, after a magnificent renovation, turning a 17th century manor house into the first luxury hotel in the heart and old town of Marbella.

It is a very important building in the old town, both historically and architecturally. In its day it was the summer residence of the famous Eugenia de Montijo, wife of Emperor Napoleon III. In the 19th century it was also the residence of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the architect of the Suez Canal.

In the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, this important house was also a meeting place for artists and the bohemian atmosphere can still be perceived today. The name "Claude" honors the memory of opera singer Claude Devoize who lived in this house with her husband, Don Juan Berjano, where cultural parties and gatherings were not lacking.

The idea of converting this historic building into a luxury hotel was Franz Josef Willmes, Don Juan's stepson, and his wife Maria José Aller. The restoration of this house has been done with great care and affection, respecting the antiquity and combining it with the modern.

Apart from being the first and only luxury hotel in the historic center of Marbella, the Hotel Claude is still a small cultural and artistic oasis, under the work of a team of hotel professionals at your service 24 hours a day.
